Two militants shot dead, one held at Imphal
Imphal, Jul 28: A combined force of troops and Imphal West police shot dead two suspected militants in an encounter at Hiyangthang, Imphal West. Police said here on Monday, July 28, that frisking of vehicles was being undertaken by security forces on Sunday, July 27 night during which a private car was asked to stop.
However, the vehicle did not stop and a brief encounter ensued. In the encounter, two suspected militants, who were in the car, were killed and one AK 56 rifle was recovered, police said. Meanwhile, in another incident, troops of 32 Assam Rifles of 9th Sector under HQ IGAR (South) launched an operation at Lilong Khunou, Thoubal district and nabbed a cadre of People's United Liberation Front (PULF), the PRO of Assam Rifles said.
