Two drowned, 7 injured in Kashmir, police burst teargass shells

Srinagar, Jul 28 (UNI) A migrant and local child drowned and seven others were injured in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said today.

Official sources said a group of children were taking bath in river Jhelum near Hanuman Mandir this afternoon. However, one of the child drowned.

Later a group of people stopped traffic on busy Budshah bridge alleging that police came very late.

However, when they refused to allow traffic, police resorted to lathicharge and later fired several rounds of teargas shells ti disperse them.

Efforts are on to fish out the body, they said.

Nawraz Alam (25), son of Abdul Hassan, resident of Bihar drowned in the river Jhelum at Kadalbal Charsoo in Awantipora.

His body was later fished out at a distance.

Sources said a vehicle hit and injured a pedestrian at Sumbal on the Srinagar-Sonmarg road. He was hospitalised.

Six passengers were injured when an Army vehicle hit the vehicle in which they were travelling near Khawaja Bagh, Baramulla.

The injured were admitted to different hospitals.
