Student nabbed for making bomb threat

Kozhikode, July 28 (UNI) An eleventh standard student was arrested today for making a telephone call threatening that bomb would explode at five vital installations, including Cochin Harbour, in Kerala before August 15.

Confirming the arrest, a top police officer, on the condition of anonymity, said Tejas, 17, son of Kunhiraman, was arrested at his native Avala near Perambra in the district for making the call to a Thiruvanthapuram-based photo-journalist on July 25.

He said the arrest was effected on the basis of a case registered with the Thiruvananthapuram Police, after a complaint was lodged by the lensman.

The accused, owing allegiance to the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), had also reportedly threatened to blow up the house of the journalist if the information was leaked to the police.
