South West monsoon active over the state
Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 28: The South West monsoon has become active over Kerala, with heavy rains lashing many parts of the State.
Met office said here on Monday, July 28, a few places in Lakshwadeep received heavy rains. Vaithiri received the highest rainfall of 20 cm followed by Peerumedu, 15 cm. Munnar received 13 cm of rains and 11 cm at Nilambur. Six cm was received at Karipur AP, Manjeri, Kupadi, Kanjirapalyy and Koni. While Mananthawadi and Kottayam got nine cm each, Perinthalmanna and Vaikom received eight cm each. Heavy rains likely at isolated places in the State duing the next two days. Strong winds from westerly direction at a speed of 45 to 55 km will lash along the Kerala Coast and over Lakshwadeep during the next 48 hrs, the office added.
