Security forces intensify random searches in Srinagar
Srinagar, Jul 28 (UNI) Security forces have intensified random search and frisking operations to foil any militant attempt to carry out grenade and other attacks in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
''We have orders to conduct such random operations in the city after the recent grenade blast in general bus stand and couple of grenade attacks in the downtown,'' security force officials said at Mahraj Bazar crossing.
He and other security force officials besides men from the Jammu and Kashmir police were busy frisking the pedestrians and checking their identity cards properly before allowing them to leave the area.
The official said, ''We do not want to take any chance as the area remained busy throughout the day.'' Similar operations were also conducted by the security forces in other parts of the civil lines.
Official sources said about five people were detained after they were moving around without carrying their identity cards.
Hundreds of people, including from villages, had to go through frisking by security forces at Sunday market from Radio Kashmir crossing to Hari Singh High Street.
