Sagar, MP, July 28(UNI) Police registered criminal cases against a school principal, her husband and son for beating up students of a local school following theft of books from the library.

The school management, after an internal inquiry, had already suspended 9 students of Class ten for 20 days in connection with the theft of books and told them to bring their parents.

The cases under IPC sections 342, 323, 506 and 34 were registered against School Director-cum-Principal Alka Shrivastava, her husband Sudhanshu Shrivastava and her 25-year-old son Karan on the complaint of a student Abhyudaya's grandfather Shambhudayal Pande. They were yet to be arrested Police said Shambhudayal Pande reached the Vatsalya Senior Higher Secondary School(CBSE) on Saturday evening as Abhyudaya did not return home that day. In his complaint, the guardian said Abhyudaya, who was stripped off his shirt, was being beaten up in a locked room whe he reached the school. Two other students-Akash Thakur and Arpit Jain - were also there.

City Superintendent of Police Dinesh Kaushal said medical examination of the three students were performed.

Meanwhile, school principal Alka Shrivastava told UNI that books were being pilfered from the library for about a year and nine students were suspended after an internal inquiry. On Saturday, three students did not return home and were found outside the school, she said, while refuting the charge of assaulting the students.

The affected students remained tightlipped apprehending that the school management might play with their future. Abhyudaya, however, said he was stripped and beaten up and not allowed to take food till 4 pm that day.

The prestigious school remained in controversy for enforcing discipline and it took a new turn after the death of a judge's son due to alleged negligence of the school management a few years ago.
