Pawar elated as South West monsoon revives
Hyderabad, Jul 28 (UNI) Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar today expressed elation over revival of the South West monsoon, even as weatherman predicted more rains under the influence of a low pressure area over North West and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal.
''For six weeks weather officials had been saying that there was a deficit in rainfall in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra and parts of Gujarat. I am happy that the situation has changed for the better now'', he told newspersons here.
The Union Minister had to cancel his public meeting in Tandur due to inclement weather.
Meanwhile, India Meteorology Department Officials said yesterday's low pressure area over West Central and adjoining North West Bay of Bengal, off south Orissa and north Andhra Pradesh coasts developed into a well marked low pressure area over North West and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal and coastal areas of south Orissa and north Andhra Pradesh.
Under its influence, widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall was likely over north Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, they told UNI.
Moderate to rather heavy rains or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and at many places over Rayalaseema.
