Management needed in political, social, envir systems: Karan
Mumbai, Jul 28 (UNI) Management students need to horn their skills, not only to manage economy, but also political, social and environmental systems, Dr Karan Singh MP and president of Indian Council for Cultural Relations said today.
Dr Singh was speaking at the opening ceremony of the new batch of Chanakya Institute of Management Studies here.
He said students of management should work to address the problems faced by the country. ''Even today, 33 per cent population of India lives below the poverty line. We have to bring them in the mainstream. Besides this, social tensions and terrorism are on a rise,'' Dr Singh said.
''The developmental schemes announced by the government have not been implemented to benefit the masses. We have to manage our economy and politics then only we will be able to manage our society,'' he said.
All India Institute of Local Self Government Chairman Dr Jatin Mody and Director General Ranjit Chavan were also present on the occasion.
