Ganja worth Rs three lakh seized, one arrested

Howrah, Jul 28 (UNI) Police today recovered 104 kg ganja, worth Rs three lakh, from a private vehicle travelling on Howrah Bridge-II in the district and arrested one person in this connection.

Police said the vehicle was travelling from Burdwan district to Kolkata.

The contraband was recovered while undertaking frisking operations at various strategic locations as security was stepped up in the capital city as well as Howrah district following the serial bomb blasts at Bangalore and Ahmedabad.

However, the driver of the vehicle managed to flee, police said, adding that his associate was arrested and investigation was on in this connection.
