European Commission Ambassador meets Gen Rodrigues
Chandigarh, Jul 28 (UNI) European Commission Ambassador Daniele Smadja today called on Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Lt General (Retd) SF Rodrigues at Punjab Raj Bhavan and discussed various issues of mutual interest.
During the meeting, General Rodrigues emphasised the need of institutionalising exchange programmes of professional and technical experts for mutual benefit.
''As India has a young workforce of 300 million people, the whole world, especially the European countries, will look to India as a resource bank for professionals and technical hands. We have, therefore, prepared ourselves and reinvented our systems to develop our potential through innovative programmes,'' he said.
The visiting Ambassador showed keen interest in the various programmes and suggested that the collaboration in various fields will be of immense benefit in global ventures.
She advocated the need for strengthening further initiatives in cooperative ventures involving common interests and pursuing worldwide development programmes.
