AP to organise Minorities mass marriages
Hyderabad, Jul 28 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minority welfare and Energy minister Mohd Ali Shabbir today said the first mass marriage of Muslims and Christians would be conducted on August 21 and the second on October 21 or 22.
Addressing a state-level committee meeting on mass marriages here, Mr Shabbir said the scheme should be implemented in such a manner that the benefits would reach the genuinely poor people, according to a press release.
Stating that the state government has allocated Rs 5 crore for the mass marriages to be organised in four phases this year, he said 2500 marriages in Muslim community and 500 in Christian community would be organised.
Mr Shabbir said the budget would be spent district-wise on the basis of population of minorities.
