Two militants killed and 4 hideout busted in J
Srinagar, Jul 27 (UNI) Security forces killed two militants, busted four hideouts and arrested a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) ultra in Jammu and Kashmir during the past 24 hours, official sources said today.
They said troops of 9 Para and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint operation at village Gujarpati Surigam in the frontier district of Kupwara today.
During the operation, militants fired upon the search party with automatic weapons and also hurled hand grenades. Security forces also retaliated and in the ensuing gun battle two militants were killed.
The operation was still going on when the reports last came in, they added.
Sources said troops of 44 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) busted a hideout at Sangarwani forest in the south Kashmir district of Pulwama.
The arms and ammunition recovered included one UBGL Launcher, seven AK magazines and 892 rounds.
However, no one was arrested, they said.
Security forces arrested HM militant alongwith one AK rifle, one magazine, 30 rounds of ammunition and four hand grenades at Pahalgam.
A hideout was busted at Narole forest in Poonch district. The arms and ammunition recovered included one revolver, eight hand grenades, four UBGLs and one wireless set.
Another hideout was busted at Kenu Nadi Mohar and one pistol, one magazine, 290 rounds of ammunition, two hand grenades, eight detonators, 32 explosive sticks, two safety fuses and one anti personnel mine were recovered.
