Security tightened in AP, high alert sounded

Hyderabad, Jul 27 (UNI) Security has been tightened all over Andhra Pradesh in the wake of serial blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad that killed more than 40 people and left over 100 people injured.

Police said additional forces had been deployed at sensitive areas, and security doubled at holy places, public areas and shopping malls.

All pre-cationary measures were being taken to prevent any untoward incidents in the districts and cities by alerting district police.

In the capital city, which was rocked by the bomb blasts last year, special police teams, formed under every police station limits, had been fanned out to every street using high-tech devices in sensitive areas where some suspected terrorists were arrested in connection with twin blasts recently.

People, who thronged the Mahankali temple in old city where the Bonalu Festival Celebrations were underway, were closely monitored as a huge number of devotees were visiting the temple since morning, the police added.

Additional forces were put up at temple premises also to ensure that celebrations passed off peacefully.

Meanwhile, City Police Commissioner B Prasada Rao told UNI a police team would be sent to Ahmedabad to study the bomb blast incident and investigate the alleged links between suspected terrorists who were arrested in Andhra Pradesh.
