Raids on gunpowder godowns in Pondy

Puducherry, Jul 27 (UNI) In the wake of the serial bomb blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad, Puducherry police and revenue officials today raided gunpowder godowns.

According to police sources, a team led by Thazildar Yashwanthiah today raided seven godowns at Ariyankuppam on directions from District Collector Thevaneethidas.

Two godowns, which were lying idle, were sealed by the officials and they took stock of the gunpowder in other godowns. Meanwhile, security has been tightened in the union territory.
