Paswan condemns blasts; stresses for joint mechanism

Jaipur, Jul 27 (UNI) Union Steel Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Ram Vilas Paswan today strongly condemned the serial blasts in Ahmedabad and stressed the need for evolution of a joint machinery by Centre and states for fighting terrorism.

However, he has shown disagreement with BJP Prime Ministerial candidate L K Advani's demand for bringing back POTA.

Talking to mediapersons Mr Paswan said expanding net of terrorism was a serious threat and all were required to be sensitive towards such incidents.

However, it was not an occasion to trade allegations and counter allegations against each other.

''One should not see these developments with political eye nor should attempt to target the Centre or state governments,'' he said, adding that terrorism was an international menace.

He said both the Centre and the states should jointly take on the menace with people's cooperation and should evolve joint legal-administrative mechanism to deal with the situation.

However, POTA was not required, what was required is effective implementation of existing laws and procedures, he added.
