Manmohan Singh Govt purchased confidence vote: Sushma

New Delhi, Jul 27 (UNI) Senior BJP Leader Sushma Swaraj today alleged that on July 22, the Manmohan Singh Government at the Centre did not win the confidence vote in the Lok Sabha but purchased it.

''That day the Government did not win, the suitcase won and democracy lost. Reducing the Constitution to shreds the way in which UPA Government did by purchasing the MPs, saved it. But it will have to go finally because it has lost the respect of hundred ten crores Indians,'' Ms Swaraj said, after inaugurating the 'Bhandafod campaign' to be organised by the party all over the country in protest against the MP purchase case.

As part of the campaign, rallies shall be organised in the entire country till August two.

The programme was to be inaugurated at the V P House Grounds by Former Deputy Minister Lal Krishan Advani but he had to go to Ahmedabad suddenly due to the serial bomb blasts.

In her inaugural address, Ms Swaraj alleged that the Congress and Samajwadi Party purchased the votes of the MPs, by showing the fear of losing their seats to MPs, in whose constituencies the new delimitation has been implemented by the Election Commission.

''In order to save its Government, the Congress Party purchased the votes of MPs of anti-Indian Parties, criminals, people undergoing punishment and MPs, who encouraged the people who have burnt the National Flag. The whole world saw it. The people of the country shall definitely punish the Congress for its sin in the forthcoming elections,'' Ms Swaraj said.

Speaking at the function, where BJP National general secretary Vijay Goel, Delhi BJP Chief Harsh Vardhan and BJP leaders Poonam Azad, H S Balli and Jagdish Mukhi were also present, Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Vijay Kumar Malhotra alleged that the present Government at Centre was the Government of criminals.

''Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has himself become a tainted person after purchasing the votes of MPs. The country has never seen such a degraded Prime Minister. The UPA Government has won the vote of confidence at the cost of the nation.

Although this Government has won with the help of cash, yet the UPA Government has lost on moral grounds. Dr Singh should resign immediately,'' Prof Malhotra said.

Presiding over the meeting, the BJP Delhi Pradesh President Harsh Vardhan said the Congress Party, which had leaders like Patel and Tilak now has become a Party of great corrupt persons, criminals, touts and anti-national people.

''The country is not safe in their hands. Since the country became free, the Congress Prime Ministers, Ministers, MPs, leaders have committed corruption of crore of rupees. The story of these corrupt people is available with the Vigilance Department, but no Congress leader is behind the bars,'' he said.

He told the workers present in the meeting that they should dislodge the Congress Government in the forthcoming Assembly elections and throw in the dustbin of history.

He assured the national leaders present there that by winning all the seven seats of the Lok Sabha and two third seats in the Assembly elections, they would help to make Mr L K Advani the Prime Minister.

Also present at the meeting were many MCD Councillors, Legislators, District Presidents and thousands of workers from the entire Delhi who raised thunderous slogans in support of BJP in the campus.
