Trout fish production reaches 150 tones
Srinagar, Jul 27: Jammu and Kashmir government is considering to privatize the trout fish culture to boost its production in the state where the production has reached 150 tones per year.
An official spokesman said 30 trout units have already come up while ten more such units are under construction in the state.
The trout fish culture is being privatized in near future and for the purpose additional feed manufacturing plant will be procured from abroad for which the process has been initiated, he said.
The Carp fish culture has already been privatized under Prime Minister's package. As many as 454 such units have been set up across the state, which has proved quite successful in creating employment opportunities for rural youth.
The trout production has increased to 150 tones per year and the fish has become easily available to common man from different sales outlets.
Meanwhile, Director Fisheries T Angchook stocked trout rearing unit at Gogjigund, Achabal in south Kashmir by releasing fisherlings in good number in the pond.
