Jaya condemns statues' desecration

Chennai, Jul 27 (UNI) AIADMK Supremo J Jayalalithaa today condemned the desecration of statues of Party Founder M G Ramachandran and Former Chief Minister C N Annadurai at Karaikudi yesterday.

In a statement here, she said such acts were the handiwork of people who could not tolerate the party's protest over frequent power cuts in Sivaganga District.

Condemning the acts of vandalism, she urged the police to take stringent action against those involved and prevent such recurrence.

''It is the duty of the police to prevent such incidents,'' she said and demanded the State Government replace the damaged statues.
