Board provides welfare measures for labourers
Chandigarh, Jul 27 (UNI) The Building and other Construction Workers' Welfare Board has taken a number of decisions for the welfare of labourers in Haryana.
Stating this here today a spokesman of the state Labour Department said the Board had decided to provide labourers the facility of visiting prominent religious and historic places once in four years. It will introduce mobile shops to provide the labourers essential commodities like flour, rice, pulses and ghee at fair prices.
He said that free transportation facility would be provided to the children of the workers from their homes to their nearby schools.
He said it has also been decided to provide free health facility to the workers through mobile dispensaries and also equip them with mobile toilets near their temporary places of stay and sites of construction. The Board would also give a financial assistance of Rs 5100 on the marriage of daughters of workers.
He said the labourers will be covered under health insurance schemes for serious ailments. Sheds would be constructed at labour chowks where the labourers and construction workers could meet, he added.
