Srinagar, Jul 27 (UNI) To avoid any apprehension and maintain a transparency in the selection of Khadum-Ul-Hujaj for Haj-2008, for the first time khadims were selected through draw of lots without any political pressure.
The draw of lots for the selection of 18 Khadims was held in the open in the presence of all those who had applied for Khadims, who are responsible for guiding the pilgrims from the Jammu and Kashmir during the Haj.
An official spokesman said 270 applications from officials of different government departments were received by the state Haj committee from aspirant Khadims.
However, after scrutiny, 47 applicants were found eligible.
Khadim-Ul-Hujaj were present on the occasion. The applicants present on the occasion expressed satisfaction over the transparency maintained in the selection process of Khadim-ul-Hujaj.
In the past, the khadims were mostly being selected on political considerations.
However, this time because of Governor's rule in the state, there was no political pressure in the selection of Khadims.
The selected Khadims include Mohammad Ismail Vet Surgeon, Omar Nawaz Gupkari Forest Guard, Mohammadd Hussain Shah, senior Assistant, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Bhat Lecturer, Mushtaq Ahmad Wani Teacher, Mohammad Akram Mir Patwari, Mushtaq Ahmad Teacher, Shafeeq Ahmad Rather Lab Tech, Ghulam Mohammad Dar Selection Grade Constable, Gulab Mir, Field Supervisor, Eajaz Hussain Qurashi Junior Scale Stenographer, Abdul Majid Mir Teacher, Mohammad Ashraf Bhat Asstt Ex. Engineer, Muneer Ahmad Shah Master, Abdul Rehman Najar Patwari, Mohammad Amin Dar Statistical Asstt, Nazir Ahmad Nazir junior agriculture Assistant and Ghulam Hassan Lone senior Pharmacist.
