TN sanctions Rs 1.73 cr to SC,ST students
Chennai, Jul 26 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government today sanctioned an assistance of Rs 1.73 crore to 310 scheduled caste and scheduled tribe students, who secured the top ten ranks in their districts, to enable them to join schools of their choice to pursue the plus two.
An official release here said as per the scheme introduced by the government last year, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi ordered an assistance of Rs 56,000 each to ten students from each of the 31 districts in the state, who secured top ten ranks in the tenth standard examinations.
The financial assistance was being given to the students to enable them to join schools of their choice for plus two and prepare themselves for national level examinations, the release said.
