Tirumala Temple to be closed on August 1, 16

Tirupati, July 26 (UNI) The world famous Tirumala temple and its sub temples, including Sri Padmavathi temple, will be closed on August 1 and 16 due to solar and lunar eclipse respectively.

As per the TTD Panchangam for 2008-2009, there would be a solar eclipse on August one, lunar eclipse on August 16, and another solar eclipse on January 26, 2009, TTD PRO Ravi said in a release here today.

In view of Solar Eclipse on August one, the doors of Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirumala and all the TTD temples located in and around Tirupati would be closed from 1000 hrs to 1830 hrs and all sevas would be cancelled, except Abhishekam. Sarva darshanam would be from 0630 hrs to 0930 hrs and it would be resumed only at 2000 hrs on the same day.

In view of the Lunar Eclipse on August 16 starting at 0105 hrs and ending at 0414 hrs on August 17, TTD temples, including Tirumala temple, would remain closed from 1930 hrs of August 16 to 0500 hrs of August 17. All sevas, except Suprabatham, would be cancelled on August 16, the release added.
