Tele ophthalmology unit inaugurated

Visakhapatnam, July 26 (UNI) Visakhapatnam District Collector and District Blindness Control Society Chairman Sanjay Kumar today inaugurated a 'Tele Ophthalmology Unit' at the Government Regional Eye Hospital here for providing primary eye care services to the residents of Yelamenchili and Paderu in the district.

Speaking after inaugurating the unit, he said the unit, set up at a cost of Rs 49.54 lakh, was one of the 11 centres sanctioned in the country. It would provide primary eye care services to people at the remote areas in the district.

The District Administration would establish three more 'vision centres' at Narisipatnam, Bheemunipatnam and Aruaku shortly, which would be run with the funds allocated by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry.
