High alert in Mangalore following bomb blasts

Mangalore, Jul 26: A high alert had been sounded by the Dakshina Kannada police in the city on Saturday, July 26, following a series of eight low-intensity blasts in Bangalore on Friday, July 25.

Police said forces had been deployed in major shopping malls and bus stands, besides an increase in the number of mobile patrols in and around the city. Security had been beefed up at busy streets and nearby bus shelters. Additional police teams had been deployed across the state to assist the security in monitoring the movement of suspected elements. Sniffer dogs were pressed into service and the security had been tightened at railway stations, airport and bus stands. All vehicles were checked to prevent the movement of anti-social elements in the state. Suspected people would be screened in the city, police added.

M R Vasudeva, Airport Director told here that , besides Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Airport Authority of India (AAI) had also been alerted.

Security had also been strengthened in Udupi district, including Sri Krishna temple and Sri Mookambika temple.
