Gujarat Governor appeals to maintain peace

Ahmedabad, Jul 26 (UNI) Gujarat Governor Naval Kishore Sharma has condemned the serial bomb blasts that took place in different areas of the city today.

The Governor has also appealed to all communities to maintain peace and harmony.

''For the last five years, the state has maintained peace,'' he said, adding that ''the terrorists and factional forces may be responsible for the blasts.'' Chief Minister Narendra Modi also urged the people to maintain peace and tranquility during the hour of crisis.

He also appealed to people to cooperate with the law enforcing authorities to maintain peace in the state.

''The act of terrorism is intended to disturb peace and harmony in the state. It is a cowardice act of terrorists against the humanity, Mr Modi added.'' He assured the people that stern actions would be taken against the outfits involved in the heinous act. Those who want to destroy peace and tranquility would never succeed in their intentions, he added.
