Govt shifting stand on Doha: BJP
New Delhi, Jul 26 (UNI) The BJP today charged that the government was shifting its stand at the mini-ministerial at Geneva regarding the draft to be finalised on pending issues relating to the Doha round of the WTO.
The Indian delegation at the talks is being led by Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath and even during the sixth day today uncertainty prevailed at the mini-ministerial.
The gap does not seem to be narrowing between the developed and the developing countries on the opening up of trade in agriculture and industrial goods.
Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Murli Manohar Joshi in a letter has asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to instruct the Indian delegation at Geneva to not succumb to this demand of the developed countries.
''I believe that at this juncture, India has to put up a strong argument for protecting the national economy. India has uptil now successfully fought the battle and should continue to do so,'' he said.
