GNLF leaders' houses torched, clashes continue

Darjeeling, Jul 26 (UNI) Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) activists today torched the houses of Gorkha National Liberation Front's (GNLF) Kalimpong president Dawa Pakrin and local leader Mouri Kalikutey.

Police said the situation in the entire hill area was tense as sporadic clashes between the GJM and GNLF supporters continued.

Fourteen GNLF members, including its Darjeeling unit president Deepak Gurung, who were arrested yesterday, were produced in the court today and remanded in judicial custody.

Meanwhile, GNLF chief Subhash Ghisingh was on way to Siliguri where he would be lodged at the state electricity board guest house under Bhaktinagar police station, police added.
