4.64% growth recorded in coal production
New Delhi, Jul 26 (UNI) An increase of 4.64 per cent in coal production in the country was recorded with 31.32 million tonnes production in June this year as compared to the previous year's 29.93 MT.
According to the sources from the Coal Ministry, the production was 1.39 MT higher, however, lower than the production target fixed for this month at 34.26 MT.
About24.90 MT coal was dispatched to power sector during June.
The provisional result of the review, held by the E-auction in all coal producing companies of the Coal India Limited, indicates that during June this year the total quantity offered was 155.92 lakh tonnes as against 49.06 LT which was allocated.
Average floor price in June, 2008 was Rs 946.60 per tonne against the average bid price of Rs 1233.49 per tonne, indicating 30.31 per cent increase.
The production of Lignite in June this year was declined by 4.37 LT to 16.35 LT, compared to the previous year. The actual production, 18.50 LT, was also lower than the target fixed for the June, 2008.
The power generation was lower at 1073.76 million units as against 1635.77 MU generated in the previous year. The power export also declined to 884 MU as against 1395.66 MU exported in June, 2007.
