Bangalore, Jul 25: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today said he would make a comprehensive statement on the drought situation in the Legislative Assembly on July 28.

Mr Yeddyurappa, intervening during zero hour when the issue was raised by Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Mallikarjun Kharge, said he would make a detailed report on the drought-like situation in the state and the action to be taken.

He said the situation was likely to improve as more rains were expected in the next few days.

The Chief Minister said the government would initiate relief works and provide drinking water by releasing funds for the purpose.

Mr Kharge urged the government to declare the districts of Bijapur, Bagalakot, Raichur, Koppal and Bellary as drought-hit areas.
