Good response to party membership drive: Srinivas
Hyderabad, Jul 25 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president D Srinivas today claimed there was good response from the public towards the party membership drive, which started on July 21.
Addressing a press conference here, he said all the party leaders and workers were totally involved in the membership drive and those who liked the policies and programmes of the Congress were joining the party.
He said the membership drive was going on as per the instructions of the All India Congress Committee and it was the responsibility of the district Congress presidents and the Mandal Congress presidents to supply sufficient membership drive books to the party cadre.
Mr Srinivas said the PCC had already handed over the books to the DCC presidents and if necessary, the PCC would supply more books.
He expressed the hope that the party would reach the target of 50 lakh members within two months as per present indications.
Stating that the AICC and PCC had taken the membership drive as an important matter, he said the party's aim was to increase the membership of the party.
