Fake currency worth Rs 16 lakh seized, 4 held

Lucknow, Jul 25 (UNI) Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh police today busted a currency smuggling syndicate with the arrest of its four members and seized counterfeit notes amounting to Rs 16 lakh in Mahanagar area here.

On a tip off, cops laid a trap and arrested the culprits near Badshahnagar railway station, police said.

The arrested, included Suhel Singh of UP and Sharma Paswan, Vinod Kumar and Manjay Kumar of Bihar.

The seizure comprised Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 denomination notes.

The syndicate used to smuggle the currency from Nepal, they added.
