Delhi govt fails to tell SC how it will solve power crisis
New Delhi, Jul 25 (UNI) Delhi government today failed to explain in the Supreme Court what steps it is taking to solve the power crisis in the Capital.
Counsel for Delhi government submitted before a bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justices Dalveer Bhandari and H S Bedi that power is not available and other states are not willing to sell power to Delhi because the states are themselves facing similar situtation.
Counsel for the government, however, submitted that the government would take all possible steps to augment the generation of power in Delhi.
Amicus Curiae Ranjit Kumar,however, submitted that the people in Delhi are being subjected to long power cuts and the affidavit of the government is silent on the issue of solving the current power crisis in Delhi while claiming that people in Delhi will be in better condition on power front in 2009-10.
The apex court directed the government to file status report within two weeks.
