CPI(M) to form third front: Yechury
Tiruchirapalli, Jul 25 (UNI) CPI(M) polit bureau member Sitaram Yechury today said the Left parties would try to form a third front as an alternative, comprising Non-Congress and Non-BJP parties to face the next Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing a press conference here, he said the proposed third political alternative would be formed based on the policies and ideologies of the Left and like-minded parties.
He said the people of the nation also wanted such an third alternative.
Referring to today's serial blasts in Bangalore, Mr Yechury said anti-national forces targetting Bangalore was a signal that the country was facing severe disturbances from such forces. He strongly condemned the act of the anti-nationals and demanded that investigation agencies should book the culprits responsible as early as possible.
To a question, he said though the Congress-led UPA Government won the trust vote, it had lost the trust of the nation. He said the sting operation by a satellite channel taping money given as bribe for cross voting should be played to the people for their judgement on it. He also wanted a detailed inquiry into the episode to bring out the truth.
He said the government should ban futures trading immediately, reduce the price of petroleum products as the oil price was falling in the international market.
He said the proposed nationwide campaign by the Left would also expose the misdeeds of the communal forces, besides protesting against the Indo-US nuclear pact.
