Congress to contest Pale seat against NCP claim
Panaji, Jul 25 (UNI) Debunking the claim of its coalition partner NCP, the Congress today reiterated its resolve to contest the Pale assembly seat in Goa that fell vacant following the demise of its legislator.
Speaking to newsperrsons, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Francisco Sardinha said the Pale seat was held by the Congress, hence, logically it should go to the Party.
The question of NCP usurping the seat should not arise, the issue would be sorted out in coalition partners meeting soon, he said.
The NCP executive in its meeting yesterday decided to contest from Pale to bolster its strength.
The NCP had also authorised state revenue minister Jose Phillip D'Souza to convey the decision to the party high command in Delhi today.
