Bihar Assembly adjourned till lunch following ruckus by Opposition
Patna, Jul 25 (UNI) The Bihar Assembly was today adjourned twice during the pre-lunch session following a pandemonium, created by the Opposition, over issues of public concern.
As soon as the Lower House assembled for the day, the Opposition members demanded special discussion on the issues of Below Poverty Line (BPL), Above Poverty Line (APL), irregularities in Public Distribution System (PDS) and blackmarketing.
RJD members Abdul Bari Siddiqui alleged that the foodgrains from the PDS were being distributed among the affluent instead of the poor.
The Opposition members trooped to the well and shouted anti-government slogans.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ramashray Prasad Singh suggested to the members to let the Question Hour continue without interruption and raise the issues later. He said the government was prepared to reply to the questions scheduled for the day.
Speaker Udai Narayan Choudhry tried to restore order in the House but failed and the House was adjourned till 1200 hours.
Later, the Opposition members continued the din when the House reassembled.
Soon after the Speaker turned down the Adjournment Motions moved separately by some of the Opposition members on the issues of waterlogging, irregularities in APL, BPL, PDS, and took up the Zero Hour, the Opposition members trooped to the well and shouted anti-government slogans.
Amid the din and bustle, the Speaker again adjourned the House till lunch.
