BHEL eyes Phase III expansion to new orders
{image-Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd_25072008.jpg news.oneindia.in}Tiruchirapalli, Jul 25: The public sector Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) will be preparing detailed project report for the third phase of expansion to agument capacity for executing new orders, BHEL Incharge General Manager V Ananthakrishnan said.
Addressing workers here on Thursday July 24, after assuming charge, Mr Ananthakrishnan said the present order book of the BHEL unit here stood at Rs 20,000 crore and would go up further. With continious growth in orders for power equipment, BHEL was already carrying out expansion in two phases at a cost of Rs 922 crore. The work was expected to be completed by March Next.The proposed third phase of expansion would help add production capacity by 5000 MW to the existing cpacity of 15,000 MW. The present order book position was comfortable for the next four years and sought the cooperation of the workers to register continuous growth.
BHEL Outgoing Executive Director R N Mishra said the company was negotiating with Reliance Power for supplying five units of 800 MW super critical boilers worth Rs 2,600 crore. He wanted the workers to prepare themselves to face stiff global competition by meeting time and delivery schedules.
