AIADMK stages demo to condemn rampant power cuts

Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu, July 25 (UNI) Dismissing the ruling DMK's allegations that the previous AIADMK regime had not taken up any major power projects during its tenure leading to the present power crisis in Tamil Nadu, senior AIADMK leader and former Minister S Muthusamy today claimed that during the 20-year-old AIADMK regime the State had not witnessed frequent power cuts.

Addressing a demonstration organised by the party high command to condemn frequent power cuts in Karaikudi town, he charged the DMK Government with having failed to tackle the present power crisis.

Instead of taking necessary steps to set right the power position, the DMK Government was levelling false allegations against the AIADMK.

Stating that the DMK Government had failed in all aspects, Mr Muthusamy said that along with the coming parliamentary elections, State Assembly elections would also be held because of the "misrule" of the Government.

More than 500 AIADMK workers, including 50 women, staged a slogan shouting demonstration in front of the TNEB office here this afternoon.
