Abductors releases Broomsticks trader
Shillong, July 22 (UNI) Two days after keeping hostage, a broomstick trader in Meghalaya was released unharmed with investigating authorities cracking on the abductors.
On Saturday evening, Vinod Kumar Khemka was abducted by a mixed group of dacoits from Mawkriah village in East Khasi Hills district after attending a funeral of his associate at Phudkroh village near Ranikor in West Khasi Hills bordering Bangaldesh.
East Khasi Hills district Superintendent of Police, AR Mawthoh said that the abductors can be a mixed group of dacoits and did not rule out the possibility of the involvment of militants in abducting the trader.
Mr Mawthoh said that the police are investigating to find out exactly who the abductors were and did any ransom amount was made for Khemka's released.
Yesterday police officials had said the kidnappers had come down on their ransom demand from Rs 90 lakh to Rs 20 lakh for Mr Khamka's release.
