Wipro launches Mission10x

Chennai, Jul 24 (UNI) Software major, Wipro has launched Mission10X, aimed at promoting systematic changes to current teaching-learning paradigms in Engineering Education.

Mission10X is a non-profit trust set up by Wipro, which has reached out to 1000 Engineering faculty, spread over the 50 colleges in States of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Orissa in its first year.

''We are right on target of touching 10,000 to 25,000 engineering teachers by 2010, spread over 1000 colleges'', Wipro Technologies, Talent Transformation Vice-President D Selvan told reporters here today.

The main aim of Mission10X, being implemented in collaboration with Academia to significantly enhance the employability of graduating engineers.

''Through intense research, Mission10X has developed a unique ''Mission10X Learning Approach'' which enables a faculty to make a student imbibe higher levels of understanding of a subject along with development of key behavioural skills'', he added.

''We are happy to see the Academia whole heartedly participating in this socially relevant initiative. Many colleges have requested us to cover all their faculties through the Mission10X program. This has given us the confidence that this small initiative can be turned into a large movement across the country where every graduating engineer can be touched and benefitted'', he said.

He said the program was aimed at enhancing the capabilities of the engineering teachers in technical Institutions in order to facilitate the competitiveness of the Indian Industry in the global markets through improving the quality and reach of Engineering Education.

The programme involves a layered set of capability building workshops to help faculty members nurture the talent pool across the country.
