Ten Orissa districts to be covered under TRIPTI scheme
Bhubaneswar, Jul 24 (UNI) The World Bank aided Rs 300 crore Targetted Rural Initiative for Poverty Termination and Infrastructure (TRIPTI) scheme would be implemented in ten coastal districts of Orissa from October.
The scheme has been aimed at creating permanent infrastructure in rural areas to alleviate poverty through several income generating schemes.
Director Special Project Saswat Mishra said the project would be implemented in 38 blocks of ten coastal districts-- Khurda, Puri, Nayagarha, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Balasore, Bhadrak and Anugul.
More than 12.5 lakh people, spread over 8,369 villages in 1020 Gram Panchayats, would be benefitted by the scheme.
Mr Mishra said the scheme would be implemented through Mahila Self Help Groups and other similar oganisations.
The issue was discussed at the governing body meeting of the Orissa Poverty Reducation Mission chaired by Chief Secretary Ajit Tripathy today.
