Students prevented from entering college

Puducherry, July 24: Classes at the Pondicherry Engineering College (PEC) were affected from 9 am to 11 pm on Thursday, July 24, as the PEC Staff Joint Action Committee members prevented the students from entering the college.

The JAC members organised a dharna in front of the main gate, demanding the removal of College Principal (In-charge) Pritviraj and filling up of 152 vaccant posts through eligible promotions among other things. Police and Mr Pritviraj held talks with the agitators following which the agitation was called off. However, they cautioned stir was only a 'trial' and they would resort to massive agitation on July 28 when counselling by the Centralised Admission Committee began if their demands were not met by then.
