Sheep population in Bandipora reaches 2.40 lakh
Srinagar, Jul 24 (UNI) The sheep population has reached 2.40 lakhs in the Bandipora district of north Kashmir where the mutton production has gone up to 9.13 lakhs and wool 3.23 lakh kgs.
Official spokesman said here today that to further boost the Sheep Husbandry department activities on modern lines in the district.
Rs 18.84 lakh are being utilised during the current fiscal.
He said the sheep population had reached up to 2.40 lakh in the district while the mutton and wool production had gone up to 9.13 and 3.23 lakh kgs respectively.
Similarly 1.47 lakh cross bred sheep population had been registered in the district.
He said 45 sheep extension centres and five first aid centres are providing medicare facilities to the sheeps in the district.
