Relief from heavy rain; waterlogging continues in Patna

Patna, Jul 24 (UNI) Even as the rains stopped today, waterlogging continues in most of the localities here making life unbearable for the people.

Patna Municipal Corporation made all out efforts to drain out accumulated water from most of the localities including the worst affected Kankarbagh, Rajendranagar, Sri Krishna Nagar, Dariapur, Machuatoli and Patliputra Colony by running more than 60 pumps round the clock.

As a result, residents of these areas heaved a sigh of relief today after remaining waterlogged for nearly a fortnight.

However, some localities in low-lying areas were still inundated.

In order to prevent outbreak of any disease the PMC also spread DDTs and bleaching powder in those areas where there was no rain water.

Meanwhile, the local Met office predicted a generally cloudy sky with the possibility of one or two spells of moderate shower or thunderstorm during the next 24 hours.

The overall temperature in the state capital today was pegged at 31.2 degree Celcius and the minimum temperature was recorded at 25.4 degree Celcius. 12.2 mm of rainfall was recorded during the past 24 hours.
