Pondy: Teachers' Assn to hold agitation

Puducherry, Jul 24: The Joint Action Committee of Teachers Associations would organise a massive agitation on Teachers' Day demanding the implementation of Assured Career Progression Scheme (ACP) for teachers.

According to a JAC press release here today,the Union Government had ordered the implementation of the ACP with effect from September nine,1999.

However, the Education Department failed to take any action and after pressure from the JAC, the Puducherry Administration had issued orders for its implementation with effect from September three, 2007.

The slackness on the part of the officials of the department prevented the implementation of ACP till date, it claimed.

Prior to the agitation, the JAC would organise a demonstration before the Chief Secretariate on July 30.Agitation would also be organised on August 10,11 and 18 and September 15.
