PMK holds fast on Guru's detention

Ariyalur, Tamil Nadu, July 24 (UNI) Members of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) led by its President G K Mani, MLA, today observed a fast here protesting against the detention of the party's Former MLA J Guru under the National Security Act (NSA).

Former Union Minister and Lok Sabha Member A K Moorthy and more than ten sitting MLAs of the party also participated.

In an informal chat with newsmen, Mr Mani said it was unnecessary for the Tamil Nadu Government to detain Mr Guru under the NSA.It was vindictive.

He said the party had already represented the matter to the Union Government and hoped it would ensure the withdrawal of the detention under NSA.
