Kathmandu, Jul 24 (UNI) Monarchs of the world have congratulated Dr Ram Baran Yadav and Paramananda Jha, the newly elected first president and vice-president respectively of the world's youngest republic.
In her congratulatory message, British Queen Elizabeth said, ''We look forward to continuing cooperation and excellent relations between our countries.'' ''I wish you success in helping Nepal as it takes forward the important reform process. I send you and the people of Nepal my best wishes for the future,'' she said.
Congratulating the people of Nepal on the successful election of the first president and vice president, Japan said it firmly supported the democratisation process, for peace and prosperity in the Republic of Nepal.
''At this important juncture, Japan sincerely wishes that the peace process will succeed through the concerted efforts of all the political parties, and that the Republic of Nepal will attain long lasting peace, stability and democracy,'' a statement issued by the Japanese embassy in Kathmandu said.
The US, China, EU have also congratulated Dr Yadav on his election to the post and expressed happiness that the Himalayan nation will move ahead is strengthening peace process.
Meanwhile, president Yadav has accepted the resignation tendered by prime minister Girija Prasad Koirala and urged the government to continue until the new government is formed.
