Libra served Showcause notice by SAD (Badal)
Chandigarh, Jul 24 (UNI) In a step to demand disqualification of rebel member Sukhdev Singh Libra from the Membership of Parliament, SAD (B) issued him a showcause notice here today.
In the notice, signed by SAD Secretary and spokesman Daljit Singh Cheema, Mr Libra has been asked to explain why he acted contrary to the whip issued by the Leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal Parliamentary Group to remain present in the House on 21st and 22nd July and to vote against the confidence motion moved by the UPA government led by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
''You have surely, for some petty personal gains, betrayed the faith of your electorate, the Shiromani Akali Dal and the people of Punjab'', the notice said asking Mr Libra to explain within 15 days as to why in view of the above, proceedings be not initiated for his disqualification as Member of the House of the People.
''After the completion of the term of the notice, the SAD would request the Speaker of the Parliament to disqualify Mr Libra as Member of Parliament,'' the SAD spokesman said here.
