Lawful action against MLA for his immolation threat: Nitish

Patna, Jul 24 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today affirmed that lawful action would be initiated against BJP MLA Phalguni Yadav for his threat of self-immolation.

Mr Kumar told reporters here that he had received a letter from Mr Yadav threatening of self-immolation.

Mr Kumar had sent the same to state DGP for initiating lawful action against him.

Mr Yadav was allegedly manhandled by State Food and Civil Supply Minister and JD (U) leader Narendra Singh during a public function at Jamui a few weeks back and demanding action against Mr Singh, the Chief Minister informed.

The matter was being looked into by the state presidents of parties, Mr Kumar said.

'' It does not appear to be a serious problem and I hope the state leadership of both parties will find an amicable solution to the issue soon, '' Mr Kumar maintained.

The Chief Minister said he was willing to see the video footage of the incident, but it could not be made available to him.

Earlier, Mr Yadav was allegedly pushed from the dais by Mr Singh and his son Abhay Singh, MLA, following an altercation over some minor issues during a public function at Jamui a few weeks back.

Mr Yadav had sustained injuries and his bones were fractured in the incident.

Mr Yadav had written a letter to the Chief Minister a few days back and informed the latter that he would immolate himself before the Assembly during its monsoon session, if action was not taken against Mr Singh.
