"Konyak betrayed NPF and ally by voting for UPA" Rio
Kohima, Jul 24 (UNI) Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today termed NPF's Lok Sabha member Wangyuh Konyak's voting for the UPA government ''betrayal''.
Mr Rio said Konyak had lost the trust of his party (Nagaland Peoples Front) and coalition partners in the ruling Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN), comprising NPF and the BJP.
Terming it ''betrayal of people's trust'', Mr Rio said Konyak had defied the whip of the party.
He said the NPF had taken the matter very seriously and act accordingly.
He added the NPF's working committee would soon take up the matter and initiate appropriate disciplinary action as per the party's constitution.
The chief minister said the NPF president had given clear directive, in writing, to Mr Konyak to vote against the motion in the trust vote.
The NPF had an emergency meeting yesterday to take stock of the situation, against the backdrop of Mr Konyak's defiance of the party's directive. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of of the working president, Dr Kanito.
Surprisingly, talking to a local daily from New Delhi, Mr Konyak has claimed that he voted for the UPA as he was instructed to do so.
