Elections to Council posts on Aug 5: Yeddyurappa
Bangalore, July 24 (UNI) The Congress in Karnataka Legislative Council has withdrawn its dharna following Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa's announcement to hold elections to the posts of Chairman and Deputy Chairman in the House on August 5.
Mr Yeddyurappa, who was present when the House re-assembled, appealed to the Congress members entering the well of the House to withdraw the dharna and said the government had decided to hold elections to posts of Chairman and Deputy Chairman on August 5.
Intervening, Officiating Chairman N Thippanna said the Congress members could withdraw the dharna following which they resumed seats.
The Congress members had been staging dharna in the House since yesterday demanding holding elections to the Council posts which remained vacant since June 30.
